Adani Group Refutes Fake Press Releases Threatening Kenya Protestors, Condemns Deceitful Act

The conglomerate condemned the fake press releases from the group on the matter circulating on social media ‘warning Kenyan protestors of serious consequences’

Adani Group issued an official statement on Monday and refuted the recent statements regarding the company’s presence in Kenya. The conglomerate condemned the fake press releases from the group on the matter circulating on social media ‘warning Kenyan protestors of serious consequences’.

The official statement from the company’s spokesperson read, “Certain vested interests with malicious intent are circulating multiple fraudulent press releases, including one titled “Adani Group Denounces Baseless Accusations and Threats”, related to our presence in Kenya. We categorically state that neither the Adani Group nor any of its companies or subsidiaries have issued any Press Releases related to Kenya.”

Notably, the fake release claiming to be from the Adani Group threatened that it would release ‘names of government and individual stakeholders, who got bribes from the company for its projects in Kenya’. The fake statement started circulating on the internet with multiple users sharing it.

“We strongly condemn this deceitful act and urge everyone to disregard these fake fraudulent releases completely. We will take legal action against anyone involved in spreading false narratives,” the official statement noted.

The Adani Group further urged media and influencers to 'verify facts and sources before publishing or broadcasting any articles or news on the Adani Group'. The conglomerate informed that its official press releases are only available on the company's websites.

Notably, recently the Kenyan government faced resistance from unions against the transfer of the management of the country’s main airport to the Adani Group. Kenya awarded a public-private partnership concession to construct power transmission lines to the Adani Group and a unit of the African Development Bank.

Aviation union workers in Kenya also stopped protesting against the proposed transfer of Nairobi’s main airport to the Adani Group. The assurances from the government and the conglomerate helped put an end to the conflict.
