Tata Sierra EV First Look Review And Space Test
The Sierra would be launched in 2025 and would be the most premium SUV that Tata Motors would make while the name itself will evoke nostalgia for many.
Tata Sierra is a famous name but no one imagined this moniker being taken back to the Indian market but that has happened. However, you will have to wait for a long time to see this car in the showrooms. The Sierra would be launched in 2025 and would be the most premium SUV that Tata Motors would make while the name itself will evoke nostalgia for many. That said, there is nothing retro about the new Sierra since it is a large SUV that blends EV architecture with a simple design language which works.
The car displayed at the Auto Expo 2023 was closer to the production version and we got a good look at it as well. In the flesh, the Sierra is huge but has clever surfacing with boxy lines along with an uncluttered look. The concept-like lines have been translated well into this closer-to-production version. Being an EV you do not get a massive grille instead, you get full-width DRL. The squat surfacing and muscular lines are also well drawn out.
The concept has massive wheels which would be downsized for the production version but big wheel arches along with flush door handles are expected to make way to the car that you will see in the showrooms. The talking point is the side view and the rear styling with an upright stance. This version sports conventional doors while further hinting at a more production-spec design.

Some of the classic Sierra design cues have been carried over and the C/D pillars have been blacked out as well. The interior though impressed us more with its airy feel.
There is a lounge-like vibe and the cabin is simple in design. The seats too have a business class style recline function as well. The steering wheel and the dashboard design are similar to the Curvv concept with an illuminated logo in the centre augmented by two switches on either end for the driver to communicate. I managed to get in the rear seat of the Sierra for a quick look and it was massively spacious.
There is a huge amount of space on the inside while a panoramic sunroof further brings in a sense of space too. There is lounge-like seating while you get a large sofa-like comfort. There is a lot of space in terms of headroom plus legroom which we think would be translated to the production-spec car.
The Sierra will get an EV powertrain but also petrol with the platform being flexible as well. With going on sale in 2025, the Sierra would be the flagship Tata Motors product the quality plus the design did impress us. It is a big and handsome SUV that will do well while the name itself is quite iconic too.
