Skoda Slavia, Kushaq To Now Get A Smaller Touchscreen, Know Why

This change in Skoda cars is in effect from June 1 and would be for the Ambition and Style variants of the Kushaq and the Slavia.

Skoda Slavia: The Slavia and Kushaq were originally launched with a 10-inch touchscreen along with features such as wireless Smartphone connectivity but it seems the chip shortage has forced Skoda to have a rethink in terms of the features and cut down the touchscreen with a new 8-inch one. Yes, the Slavia and the Kushaq will now get an 8.0-inch touchscreen from Panasonic. This is due to the earlier supplier having issues with chip shortage and Skoda having issues getting this 10-inch UI system.

This change in Skoda cars is in effect from June 1 and would be for the Ambition and Style variants of the Kushaq and the Slavia.

That said, this feature is worldwide used in other markets in Skoda cars and gets nearly all of the features along with more physical controls. Wireless charging has not been removed though.

Skoda Slavia, Kushaq To Now Get A Smaller Touchscreen, Know Why

While Skoda has announced this, sister brand Volkswagen has not done so yet on the Taigun and the upcoming Virtus which means both the cars would continue to have the full 10-inch touch screen, as of now.

In effect the semiconductor shortage has affected Skoda and also other carmakers who are now forced to reduce features in order to avoid delays and hand down the cars quicker to the car buyer but it remains to be seen how the change affects new car buyers thinking of buying the car.

The changed touchscreen will stay on for now and will not be reverted back to the original unit size. This will affect Kushaq and Slavia only with the made-in-India cars while Octavia or Kodiaq will not be affected by this development.
