With A Price Tag Of Nearly Rs 1 Crore, Kia's EV9 Waits To Test The Waters In Indian Market
Kia EV9 SUV: The EV9's styling is edgy and also gets a bespoke electric car platform with the e-GMP, which also underpins the EV6.
Would you look past other luxury cars and get this Kia SUV for an estimated price tag of nearly Rs 1 crore? Yes, the Kia EV9 will not be cheap when it is launched in India. But then, it is not meant to be and would be a halo product of sorts that would tower over the EV6, which costs Rs 65 lakh.
The EV9 is a flagship electric luxury SUV and is huge. With a length of more than 5m, the EV9 SUV has a long wheelbase, too, at 3,100 mm. Being available with either a 6- or a 7-seater configuration, the EV9 also pushes 3 tonnes due to its size plus the battery/motor weight.
The styling is edgy and also gets a bespoke electric car platform with the e-GMP which also underpins the EV6- which means a modular interior with flexibility. The front has a digital pattern lighting with flush door handles while the rear also has LEDs. Inside, there is a second-row swivelling seat and a dual sunroof.
Specific top-end trims also come with relaxation seats which massage you in the second row. While basic models have 19-inch wheels, we think the fully loaded top-end model will get 21-inch wheels which brings the estimated range to 505 km. The top-end version also gets a bigger 99.8kWh battery pack while there is a smaller 76.1kWh battery.
We expect the EV9 to come with a price of nearly Rs 1 crore which is along the lines of the BMW iX and the other luxury EVs. The EV9 comes with size, space, and range on its side. But competition is tough with all the luxury brands jostling for space in the Rs 1-crore EV segment.
