Most Affordable Tesla Coming But It Would Be A Cheaper Model Y

This new variant could be a stripped out Model Y with more affordable packaging. This means cheaper materials and with some luxuries cut.

Elon Musk has revealed in an earnings call that the much awaited affordable Tesla would be a new variant of the Model Y. This ends speculation that there would be a seperate Model 2 which would be a hatchback below the Model Y and Model 3. This new variant could be a stripped out Model Y with more affordable packaging. This means cheaper materials and with some luxuries cut. This new variant would go into mass production by end of this year.

This variant could have a smaller battery pack with less range while styling differentiation could also be there. We don't know what this new cheaper variant of the Model Y could be called or whether it would be an extension of this car. The new variant will bring down the entry point for Tesla ownership. This will make Tesla more affordable and bring in more buyers as Tesla has more competition now than ever.

This new model could also have significance for the Indian market too where this new affordable variant would bring down the pricing of Tesla cars. However, as of now this new variant would be for the global markets including Europe and USA where the Model Y is hugely popular. In India, the Model Y was launched recently and this was the entry of the brand in India after many delays.

The Model Y is on sale in India and is available in two trims. The Model Y in India completes with luxury SUVs at the below 1cr segment as the car is priced under Rs 60 lakh starting. This new variant would be the most important launch since the Model Y is what brings Tesla the volumes overall and this will increase it further.
