MG Comet First Look Review — Features, Interiors, Expected Price And Specifications
Comet is MG's mass-market EV which is tipped to be its most affordable car in India.
MG Comet is a new kind of car and maybe isn't a car at all since this is a new kind of urban mobility solution. It is in essence, a very small electric car meant for city use and is an interesting one for sure. It is MG's mass-market EV which is tipped to be its most affordable car in India. However, the Comet is not a traditional car as we will discuss later.
How Does It Look?
The Comet looks interesting and unique while it is tiny in length at just 2.9 meters long and just 1.5 meters wide. It rides on very small 12-inch wheels as well. However, there are interesting details all over the car. Being an EV platform, the wheels are pushed forward and maximum space is made for the occupants or a long wheelbase despite the small length. There is hardly any bonnet while the packaging is tight. Then you see a nice mix of DRLs that run with black detailing with the headlamps below. There is a charging flap at the front too. It gets interesting at the side with a large window and a large door. There are only two doors but they are large along with a wraparound rear design. Funky colours would be offered and it looks cool as well.
What About The Interiors?
The interiors are a huge talking point as you simply do not expect a cabin like this on a small car. Despite the small exterior length, the wheelbase is long and that means there is a huge amount of space at the front and even at the rear seat. Along with an airy cabin feel thanks to the white upholstery, the design is simple and cool as well. There is the two-spoke steering wheel with neat i-Pod-like controls while a pair of 10.25-inch screens occupy most of the real estate inside the cabin. Then there are horizontal vents below and you also see round controls. There is a large digital display and it screams premium car here as well. The same goes for the touchscreen which includes widgets of different dimensions with 3 fully customizable pages. Then you get features like connected car tech, drive, odes, voice commands and a powered handbrake amongst others. It is a strict four-seater but the space is decent while actually being far more than what you can imagine.
What About The Range And The Expected Pricing?
That is the most important question and here we expect a range of up to 250km with its 20kWh battery pack. The single electric motor should be able to generate nearly 50hp while there are two driving modes. The pricing would be revealed later although we expect the prices to be between starting from Rs 10 lakh onwards with high localisation.
