MG Comet EV launched At Rs 7.9 Lakh  — Here's All You need To Know About This Electric Car

If talking about range then the MG Comet has a claimed range of 230km with its 17.3 kWh battery pack.

MG Motor has launched the Comet EV with a starting price of Rs 7.9 lakh. The Comet is a purpose built EV and is their entry level model in the Indian line-up and it is also one of the smallest cars in India with a length of just 2.9 meters. 

Design wise, you can see that MG has also given the Comet a radical design theme while the size of the car can be gauged with the fact that it comes with 12 inch wheels. MG also offers a lot of customisation in terms of various stickers and styling packs to personalize the Comet along with usual dual-tone shades as well. 

Inside, the MG Comet with a 10.25-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The feature list includes i-Smart with 55 connected car features including a digital key plus i-Pod like steering controls, a rear view camera with parking sensors, tilt adjust steering wheel, drive modes, central mounted power window buttons, intelligent key with smart entry system, 3 USB ports with fast charging, power adjust ORVM and dual airbags.

The cabin has a dual-tone grey upholstery. If talking about range then the MG Comet has a claimed range of 230km with its 17.3 kWh battery pack and the rear axle electric motor develops 41bhp and 110Nm. 

It is not fast charge compliant though and it will take around 7-8 hours via a regular AC charger. MG is positioning it as an urban city car and that also explains the 4.2m turning radius.

The MG Comet marks the entry of a new type of EV while price wise it competes with the Citroen eC3 and Tata Tiago ev.  MG claims that the charging cost is less than two cups of coffee a month. Stay tuned for our review of the MG Comet coming tomorrow.
