Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV — Top 5 Highlights

Bookings are open for XUV400 while Mahindra aims to deliver 20,000 units by the first year of launch.

New Delhi: The XUV400 is the first electric Mahindra SUV designed to sit at the competitive end of the market along with locking horns with the Nexon EV from Tata. Here are the top 5 things that you need to know about this new EV from Mahindra.

1. The XUV400 is based on the XUV300 but is not simply an EV version with considerable changes while design-wise being the first Mahindra EV to have the twin peaks logo as well. Bookings are open and Mahindra aims to deliver 20,000 units by the first year of launch. Prices start from Rs 15.99 lakh while the top-end version is Rs 18.99 lakh ex-showroom.

2. The XUV400 EV comes with two battery pack sizes- XUV400 EL 39.4 kWh battery and XUV400 EC powered by a 34.5 kWh battery pack. The range offered is  456 kilometres and 375 kilometres as per Indian driving cycle standards (MIDC).

3. The front axle electric motor in the XUV400 develops 150bhp and 310Nm while performance claims include a 0-100 kmph time of 8.3 seconds while reaching a top speed of 150 kmph. It has multi-drive modes (Fun, Fast, and Fearless) which adjust the regenerative braking plus throttle while also getting a  single-pedal drive mode, the ‘Lively mode’.

4. The XUV400 EC with the smaller battery pack comes with a 3.3kW and a 7.2kW charger while the EL comes with a 7.2kW only. With a 7.2 charger, the charging time is 6 hours 30 minutes while a DC fast charger charges the car from 0-80 per cent within 50 minutes.

5. The XUV400 EV is larger than sub 4m SUVs with a length of 4200 mm along with a 2600mm wheelbase. The design has copper inserts, a dual-tone colour scheme, a 7-inch touchscreen, six airbags, an electric sunroof, connected car tech, OTA updates, auto headlamps and more.
