The Wrangler is an SUV which has been a bit of an icon for its off-road ability and of course, those looks but with so many luxury SUVs coming up, the Wrangler also had to keep up, hence, meet the 2024 updated version. This is a facelift of the Wrangler and here, the focus is on improving the comfort and feature list of the Wrangler along with making it more user friendly for everyday use since owners do drive them regularly.

In terms of exteriors, there isn't a huge change but then it is not needed anyways since the Wrangler has that classic stance which continues to look appealing. That said, there is a new seven slot grille with the slots being 'shorter' along with more body colour bits. The slots also open up for cooling purposes. The antenna has also been integrated and removed plus there are new alloy wheels along with a new exterior colour.

The Rubicon version meanwhile gets off-road spec tyres and smaller wheels. Inside though there are bigger changes with a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with a new instrument panel.

The larger touchscreen brings in a crisper display and also a larger camera view which is all round while you can also clean the display- helpful when off-roading. The camera display is also terrific and clear. Other changes include a Gorilla glass windshield, noise cancellation tech, standard 6 airbags, ADAS, 12 way powered seats with Nappa leather, wireless Android Auto/Car Play and an Alpine audio.

Crucially, the powered seat buttons are also waterproof along with the switchgear which means you can go off-road without any worry. The doors are removable as before but it is not legal to drive on the road while it is more for off-road purposes if you want a bigger fun factor. Space is the same as before.

There is no change in the powertrain as well which continues with the 2.0l turbo petrol with 270 hp/400Nm with an 8-speed auto being standard. There is no manual but we do not think it would suit it. Off-road it is incredible and continues to be so with effortlessly crossing streams to climbing steep slopes along with everything else being thrown at it.

The Rubicon has locking diffs and you can disconnect the sway bar but the standard off-road ability is enough for most or even for us at this off-road trail where it coped easily with the standard systems on. Articulation to grip along with its off-road prowess is easy to see and it was quite easy for us to go through it all.

Selecting low range and the way it climbs up a hill or even its water wading capability is all second to none at this price at least. The Wrangler remains a raw off-roader at heart but there are a few more comfort bits being added for easy everyday use. It is quieter now than before, has more features but is still a beast which is happiest off-road.
