2023 New Hyundai Verna First Review: 5 Things We Noticed

Hyundai is clearly looking at double the sales for its sedan and has packed the new Verna with loads of features along with a radical styling theme.

Now that the new Verna has been launched, we spent some time with this new sedan to see how far the game has been taken in terms of the previous Verna. Hyundai is clearly looking at double the sales for its sedan and has packed the new Verna with loads of features along with a radical styling theme. Here are our five observations.

1. The new Verna looks big and it certainly looks like it belongs to a higher class with a premium look. The swoopy styling and the way the roof flows in, is like a four-door coupe while obviously the front-end design has gotten everyone talking. The new Verna certainly looks bold and radical while it looks futuristic in the flesh with the connecting DRLs and the same theme with the tail-lamps. The strong character lines at the side and a sleek profile is also appealing. The Turbo is our favourite with black wheels and red brake calipers and more blackened bits.

2. The interior is where a giant leap has been taken and the new Verna has features which rival much more expensive cars! The design comes across has unique and that includes a new two-spoke steering wheel with haptic feedback buttons. The soft touch materials and the dashboard design is classy and it feels rich. The turbo gets a black cabin with red accents which has a sportier look while the beige coloured one is for standard petrol trims.

3. Compared to the previous Verna, there has been an improvement in terms of space on offer with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm and that means more space on the inside. The rear seats have plenty of space and even the headroom is decent for even tall persons despite the sloping roofline. The rear seat is still best for two passengers while there is a bit of a central tunnel. The seats themselves are extremely comfortable though.

4. The new Verna comes loaded with features and chief of which is the new 10.25-inch screen with a crisp layout while below you get a clean layout along with switchable controls for climate control or infotainment. Then you get a powered drivers seat along with heated/cooled seats as well. Cooled glovebox, 64 colour ambient lighting, leather upholstery, rear curtain, smart trunk, sunroof, paddle shifters, connected tech and more are also found. There are also the ADAS level 2 features on board.

5. The new Verna range starts with a 115bhp, 1.5l petrol with CVT and a 6-speed manual with efficiency figures of 19.6kmpl and 18.6kmpl. The new 1.5l turbo petrol engine meanwhile has more power with 160bhp and 253Nm with a 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed manual. The efficiency figure is more at 20kmpl for manual and 20.6 kmpl for DCT version.
