Exter Or i20: Which Hyundai Car Is For You?

Hyundai has many products notably the Venue, Exter and the i20 occupying the upper end of the family car space between the Rs 5-12 lakh mark.

This is not a comparison but a buyers guide in terms of which family car from Hyundai makes more sense and why. Hyundai has many products notably the Venue, Exter and the i20 occupying the upper end of the family car space between the Rs 5-12 lakh mark. While the Venue is slightly more premium from the Rs 7.7 lakh mark to Rs 13.18 lakh, the i20 and Exter in the mid level trims do meet at the same price point. However, both are aimed at different buyers as we will explain in this article.

The i20 is a premium hatchback which comes with a range of engines like a 1.2l petrol plus a 1.0l turbo petrol while you can get the turbo petrol in the sportier N Line trim too. The i20 starts at Rs 7.4 lakh while the top-end N Line is Rs 10.18 lakh starting. The i20 comes with features like a 10.25-inch screen, Bose audio, sunroof, wireless charging, ambient lighting, air purifier, ambient lighting, connected car tech, climate control, rear camera and more. The i20 comes with an iVT or a CVT plus a DCT dual clutch auto.
Exter Or i20: Which Hyundai Car Is For You?

If we talk about the Exter then the smallest SUV from Hyundai gets a 1.2l petrol with an AMT plus a manual gearbox while the Exter also has a CNG factory option. The Exter comes with features like a sunroof, dashcam, OTA updates, wireless charging, 8inch touch screen, climate control, rear camera etc. Both cars also come with plenty of safety features as standard though Exter has six airbags as standard.

If we talk about these two cars then we do clear the confusion on who the buyer for these two Hyundai cars are since the Exter has more ground clearance, an upright driving position and is aimed as a compact small SUV which also works as a city runabout with more efficiency. The i20 is a premium hatchback focussed more on performance as seen with the turbo petrol or the N Line version.
