BMW's CE 02 Blends The Best Of Scooters And Motorcycles In An All-Electric Design
For short commutes in the city the BMW CE 02 does make sense for a funky electric two-wheeler with futuristic looks
It is very hard to say where the CE 02 slots in and whether it is an electric scooter or a motorcycle while it ends up not belonging to either! However, for short commutes in the city the BMW CE 02 does make sense for a funky electric two-wheeler with futuristic looks.
Unlike its bigger brother it is made here which explains the more slightly less Rs 4.5 lakh but it is still one of the most expensive electric two wheelers on sale. The funky looks seem more like a concept with a minimal design theme. There are LED lights and indicators, disc wheels and Forks anodised in gold, which looks cool.
It is small and approachable with being only 142 kg in weight and a low seat height of only 745 mm. Other bits include a small but feature packed 3.5inch micro TFT display, SP Connect smartphone holder and it even has an electric reverse gear plus keyless ride.
On offer are two air-cooled lithium-ion batteries at 3.9 kWh while it has 15 bhp and 55 Nm. If choosing the Highline package, there are three riding modes while 0-50km/h is 3 seconds.
There is regen and you will get just about more than 100km in terms of range. We do wish that rear ABS would be offered but as a package this is clearly a fun, youthful purchase but aimed at a niche segment with its price and design. We think the BMW CE 02 is closer to being a futuristic e scooter with its crazy radical styling as the main talking point while it could be a fun bike to zip around in the city if you can stomach the price.
