Chitragupta Puja 2023: Chitragupta Puja, celebrated annually in the month of Kartik on the second day of Shukla Paksha, holds religious significance as Lord Chitragupta, the record-keeper of human actions, is worshipped alongside Bhai Dooj. Devotees follow a tradition of venerating the pen and ink pot in conjunction with Chitragupta, believing that such rituals lead to salvation, the obliteration of sins, and freedom from the torments of hell.

This year, Chitragupta Puja is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2023. As per the calendar, the puja will commence on November 14 at 2:35 PM and conclude on November 15 at 1:45 PM.

Shubh Muhurat (Auspicious Time): 

As outlined in the Panchang, the first muhurta puja on November 14 falls between 10:48 AM. to 12:13 PM. The Abhijit Muhurta forms from 11:50 AM to 12:36 AM, and the Amrit Kaal Muhurta is observed from 5 PM to 6:36 PM. It's important to note that Rahukal time, considered inauspicious for actions, is from 3:03 PM to 4:29 PM.

Chitragupta Puja Samagri List:

To perform the Chitragupta Puja, devotees will require camphor, basil, sweets, paper, pen, honey, cloth, yellow mustard, Ganga water, ink, paan, sesame, gulal, basil leaves, fruits, flowers, roli, akshat, and sandalwood.

Pooja Vidhi (Worship Procedure):

  1. Spread a red or yellow cloth on a wooden chair for the Chitragupta Puja.
  2. Install the statue of Chitragupta Ji on the chair.
  3. Offer fruits, flowers, incense, lamps, and other offerings to Lord Chitragupta.
  4. Perform rituals as prescribed for the puja.
  5. Keep the pen in front of the statue during the puja.
  6. Place turmeric on a piece of white paper and write “Sri Ganeshaya Namah” on it.
  7. Write your name, address, and date at the bottom of the paper, along with details of your expenses.
  8. After the prayers, keep the pen with you and use it as needed.
