Rock gig cancelled in Rotterdam over terrorism warning

Rotterdam [Holland], Aug 24 (ANI): A rock concert in the Dutch city of Rotterdam has been cancelled over a terrorism warning.

The Dutch Police ceased a van with Spanish number plates containing a number of gas canisters after a tip-off from the Spanish police, reported Independent, quoting the city's mayor, Ahmed Aboutaleb.

Aboutaleb said the concert was cancelled after a tip-off from Spanish police, who are continuing to investigate a twin terror attack in Catalonia that left 15 people dead.

The van's driver had been detained and was being questioned.

But Ahmed Aboutaleb said it was too soon to link the vehicle to the terror alert.

The American band Allah-Las were due to perform on Wednesday night (local time) at the Maassilo venue.

The band said in a statement: "Due to a potential terror threat at The Maassilo in Rotterdam, the Allah-Las show was cancelled tonight." (ANI)
