16 US officials hurt in Cuba 'acoustic attack'

Washington [U.S.A.], August 25 (ANI): The United States Department of State has confirmed that at least 16 US officials were hurt in what is dubbed as Cuba's 'acoustic attack' on the US embassy last year.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert confirmed the number of people affected.

"We can confirm that at least 16 US government employees, members of our embassy community, have experienced some kind of symptoms," Nauert said.

The diplomats stationed in Havana reported symptoms that resembled concussion and hearing loss.

"U.S. diplomats were diagnosed with mild traumatic brain injuries and possible damage to the central nervous system," reported the local media citing obtained medical reports.

The State Department claims the attacks are not "ongoing," and has labeled the incidents "unprecedented."

Cuba has denied any responsibility of the attacks. (ANI)
