In the midst of Maharashtra's ongoing political unrest, a new Mahayuti alliance government was established on Thursday, December 5. In a lavish ceremony held at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis took the oath of office as Chief Minister. In addition, the new government has reappointed two deputy chief ministers. The position of Deputy Chief Minister has been assigned to NCP leader Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan of Maharashtra gave Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and Ajit Pawar the oath of office and secrecy. For the third time, Devendra Fadnavis has assumed the role of chief minister.
