Heavy monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding and destruction across northern India, particularly in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh. Rising river levels have led to evacuations and blocked roads. In Uttarakhand’s Harshil area, the swelling Bhagirathi River has forced residents near its banks to relocate to safer areas. Himachal Pradesh has experienced cloudbursts in Shimla and floods in Kinnaur, causing damage to homes, bridges, and infrastructure. In Ladakh’s LAMA-Yuri region, floods and landslides have trapped tourists. Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR has faced severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions due to heavy rainfall. Additional incidents include an arson-related bike fire in Bengaluru, a deadly car fire in Kolkata, a rescue from a well in Hyderabad, and the arrest of a major theft gang in Motihari, Bihar. Authorities are continuing rescue and relief efforts amid ongoing warnings of heavy rain.
