US Presidential Elections: Firing on Donald Trump, Another Incident Targets the Former President
Former US President Donald Trump was involved in yet another incident on Sunday when gunfire erupted near his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, while he was playing golf. The FBI has issued a statement regarding the event, and Trump himself has confirmed that he is safe and unharmed. Trump issued a message to his supporters, saying, "I am safe. I heard gunshots near me, but before any rumors spread, I want to make it clear that I am fine and secure." He further added, "Nothing will stop me from campaigning. I will never surrender." Following the gunfire, Trump returned to his Mar-a-Lago resort. The shooting occurred near the Trump International Golf Course around 2 PM local time on Sunday, September 15. Secret Service agents reportedly opened fire after spotting a person with a gun near the club. The FBI has stated they are investigating the incident as an assassination attempt. Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw commented, "US Secret Service agents fired at an individual who had pointed a rifle with a scope towards the club, while Trump was on the golf course." The suspect was reportedly around 400-500 yards away from Trump, hiding in the bushes. The gunman was later arrested in a nearby county. The White House issued a statement, saying that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed on the incident. Both expressed relief that Trump remained safe. Kamala Harris, who is Trump's opponent in the presidential race, condemned the attack, stating on social media that there is no place for violence in America. Elon Musk also reacted to the incident, posting on social media, "And no one is trying to assassinate Joe Biden/Kamala Harris."
