Student Protest: Jharkhand Aspirants Await Support as JPSC Row Intensifies

The student protest in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi against alleged irregularities in the JPSC examination has entered its second week, but protesters claim that no major political leader from the government, allies, or opposition has visited them. At Jaipal Singh Stadium, student leader Devendra Mahto has been on a three-day hunger strike, demanding action and a CBI investigation into alleged exam irregularities. The BJP has criticised the Congress and opposition parties, alleging that they supported student protests in Delhi over the NEET paper leak but are silent in Jharkhand because Congress is part of the state government alliance. BJP leaders have questioned why Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are not raising the issue in Parliament or supporting the students’ demand for a CBI probe. Responding to the criticism, Jharkhand Congress leader Irfan Ansari said the situations in Delhi and Jharkhand are different, claiming that one involved a paper leak while the other concerns alleged irregularities. The issue has now turned into a political confrontation between the ruling alliance and the opposition.
