SC orders Centre, state to analyze inadequacy data of SCs/STs for reservation
The Supreme Court denied setting a standard for providing reservation in government positions to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes on Friday. States are required to collect data on the inadequacy of representation of SCs/STs, according to a three-judge panel led by Justice Nageswara Rao. The Supreme Court stated that it cannot set any standards for determining the inadequacy of representation of SCs and STs and that it is up to the states to do so.
