Pahalgam: First batch of Amarnath pilgrims reaches the Pahalgam base camp.

The first batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims has reached the Pahalgam base camp, where authorities have begun issuing travel slips after verifying registration details. Pilgrims will stay at the base camp overnight before proceeding towards the holy cave. Extensive security arrangements have been put in place, including CCTV surveillance, paramilitary deployment, local police, and continuous monitoring through a dedicated control room. Officials have also announced that fresh on-the-spot registrations will begin at 10 AM at Pahalgam Club for devotees who have not yet registered. Meanwhile, Srinagar's transit camp is facing heavy overcrowding, with more than 8,000 pilgrims arriving despite a capacity of around 2,800, creating logistical challenges for authorities. RFID distribution for registered pilgrims has also started to streamline movement. Officials have urged devotees to complete registration before arriving to avoid delays and congestion. Weather remains another concern, with rainfall forecast across the Kashmir Valley over the coming days due to multiple Western Disturbances. Despite these challenges, authorities say security and logistical preparations are fully in place for the pilgrimage.
