Mumbai Malad East: 6 Construction Workers Fall from 20th Floor of Under-Construction Building; 3 Dead
A major incident occurred in Malad, Mumbai, last Thursday. In the Navjeevan Building in Malad East, six construction workers fell from the 20th floor, resulting in the death of three workers and leaving the remaining three in serious condition. The injured workers are currently receiving treatment. The cause of the accident is attributed to the collapse of a slab from the under-construction SRA building. Following the incident, the Dindoshi Police have filed charges under sections 106(1) and 125(a) 125(b) of the BNS Act against five individuals, including the site supervisor, contractor, and other personnel. However, no arrests have been made so far. Residents are expressing their frustration with both the builder and the government. Kamlesh Yadav, a resident of the building, stated that the construction project is managed by an individual named Devendra Pandey. There have been multiple complaints about the builder, citing poor construction quality and the recent slab collapse. Residents are also critical of the engineers and supervisors responsible for quality checks, accusing them of failing in their duties. They believe that the government is also at fault for not addressing safety concerns adequately and showing a lack of concern for the lives of people involved.
