LG Manoj Sinha To Be Present In First Prayer After The Beginning Of Amarnath Yatra | ABP News
Amarnath Yatra 2024: The pilgrimage trail to the 3880-meter-high cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas commenced on Saturday, as the initial group of pilgrims departed from the twin base camps located in Baltal and Nunwan. The yatra began early in the morning along the two routes, the 14-km Baltal route and the customary 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route. Senior police and civil administration officials, as well as the corresponding deputy commissioners, flagged off the pilgrimage groups on the twin paths, according to officials, as PTI reported. Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, flagged off the first group of 4,603 pilgrims on Friday from the Yatri Niwas base camp in Bhagwati Nagar. When the pilgrims arrived in the Kashmir Valley in the afternoon, the residents and government gave them a hearty welcome. The naturally formed ice-lingam is housed in a subterranean shrine where pilgrims will pay their respects. August 19 is when the 52-day pilgrimage comes to an end.
