J&K Encounter: Army Neutralises 2 Terrorists In Kupwara Near LoC In Infiltration Bid

Security forces successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning, eliminating two terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC). The encounter broke out in the Jumagund area of the Keran sector, a known infiltration hotspot. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation near the LoC. As the terrorists attempted to cross over into Indian territory under cover of darkness, they were intercepted. A fierce gunfight ensued, resulting in the death of both infiltrators.According to security officials, the terrorists were heavily armed and appeared to be Pakistani nationals, suspected members of a Pakistan-based terror outfit. The operation is part of intensified counter-infiltration measures ahead of the summer months, when infiltration bids typically rise. Arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials were recovered from the encounter site. The Army stated that vigilant troops remain on high alert to thwart any attempts to disrupt peace in the Valley. Search operations were underway in the surrounding areas to rule out the presence of any additional infiltrators. No casualties were reported on the Indian side.
