How Is District Administration Responsible For Hathras Stampede Along With Baba Suraj Pal? | ABP Live
The tragic incident in Hathras on July 2 revealed significant lapses in the district administration's handling of a large public event, resulting in profound loss and suffering. The event, a satsang organized by Surajpal Singh alias Baba Bholenath, was approved despite organizers informing the administration of an anticipated attendance of 80 thousand people. However, the administration failed to adequately plan for such a massive gathering, neglecting crucial aspects like crowd control and traffic management. As a consequence, more than three times the expected number of people attended, overwhelming the insufficiently prepared infrastructure. This lack of foresight and coordination proved fatal, resulting in the deaths of 121 individuals and leaving countless families devastated. The incident underscores the critical importance of stringent event planning, proactive safety measures, and effective administration oversight to prevent similar tragedies in the future. It also raises urgent questions about accountability and the need for comprehensive reforms in public event management practices across districts to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
