First visuals of Tahawwur Rana’s extradition from US emerge: Shackled in prison attire, handed over to NIA amid high security
In a major development in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case, the first visuals of Pakistani-origin terrorist Tahawwur Hussain Rana being extradited from the US to India have emerged. The images show Rana shackled and being handed over by US Marshals to NIA officials at the airport. These photographs, though taken from behind, reveal critical details about the moment he was transferred into Indian custody.Rana, dressed in the standard prison uniform used in American correctional facilities, appeared visibly older, with greyed hair and a long white beard—indicating a significant change in appearance from his older photos. The security around him was extremely tight both during his departure from the US and upon his arrival in India. Sources confirm that he remained in shackles during the entire process of handover.Once brought to the NIA headquarters in India, his prison attire was reportedly replaced with new clothes. Though no front-facing image has been released yet, officials suggest such a photo might be made public later.Senior NIA officers, including the Director General, are actively involved in the investigation following Rana's arrival. The extradition is a key moment in India’s efforts to bring 26/11 conspirators to justice.
