Coronavirus update: More than 4000 lost lives

Regions from Italy to New York amped up containment efforts as the global death toll from the coronavirus climbed above 4,000. Italy infections topped 10,000 as it attempted a nationwide lockdown. Italian health authorities said that a total of 7,985 coronavirus infection cases have been registered in the country, while the death toll has risen to 463.
