An FIR has been registered in Chandigarh in connection with the suicide of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, following a complaint by his wife. The FIR includes charges of abetment to suicide and a case under the SC/ST Act. Police confirmed that the case names several senior officers mentioned in Puran Kumar’s eight-page suicide note, including the DGP, Additional DGP, Chief Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary-level officials. His wife specifically cited the DGP and Rohtak SP in the complaint. The SC Commission has taken cognizance and requested an action taken report from the Chief Secretary and DGP within a week.
