CBSE Chaos: Students allege blurred answer sheets & website glitches amid OSR rollout issue

Concerns have emerged among students and parents following the introduction of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system by the Central Board of Secondary Education for Class 12 examinations, with several candidates reporting issues related to scanned answer sheets and online evaluation access. According to multiple student accounts, some answer sheets appearing on the digital portal are reportedly blurred or unclear, raising questions about how evaluation was conducted and whether responses were fully readable during marking. Students have expressed confusion over instances where entire pages appear faint or partially illegible, yet marks have been awarded or in some cases marked zero. This has led to concerns about transparency in the evaluation process and whether technical errors during scanning may have impacted results. Alongside this, several candidates have also reported difficulties accessing the re-evaluation and answer sheet review portal, citing frequent website crashes, slow loading, captcha errors, and payment failures during application submission. Many students claim they are unable to complete the rechecking application process within the deadline due to repeated technical glitches. Some have also reported that payments were deducted but confirmation receipts were not generated, adding to the frustration. The situation has led to growing demand for clarity from the board regarding the functioning of the OSR system and the reliability of the digital evaluation process. Officials from CBSE have previously stated that scanned copies are processed through a standardized system designed to ensure fairness and accuracy. However, students continue to question how fairness is maintained if portions of answer sheets are not clearly visible to evaluators or applicants. Education experts suggest that while digital evaluation is intended to improve efficiency, strong quality checks and system stability are essential for large-scale implementation. The issue has sparked widespread discussion online, with students urging the board to address technical problems quickly and ensure that no candidate is unfairly impacted due to system errors. Further updates are awaited from the board.
