A major success has been recorded by security forces in Chhattisgarh, where 10 Naxals were killed during an intense encounter in Gariyaband district. Among those neutralized was the dreaded Naxal commander Modem Balakrishna, who carried a bounty of ₹1 crore on his head. Balakrishna was considered one of the key faces of the Naxalite movement in the region, and his death marks a significant blow to the extremist network.According to officials, the operation was carried out jointly by the state police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and specialized anti-Naxal units. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the forces launched a targeted strike in the dense forested areas where the Naxals were believed to be hiding. The operation led to heavy exchange of fire before the militants were neutralized. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.Authorities hailed the operation as a landmark achievement in the ongoing fight against insurgency, asserting that the death of Balakrishna would weaken the morale of the group and disrupt its activities in the state.
