Breaking News: Supreme Court to Rule Today on Arvind Kejriwal's Bail Plea in CBI Case | ABP News
The Supreme Court of India is set to deliver its judgment on September 13, 2024, regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s petition for release from custody and a request for bail. The hearing will be led by a bench chaired by Justice Surya Kant. Kejriwal’s petition challenges the Delhi High Court's decision from August 5, 2024, which upheld his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the Delhi Excise Policy case and refused to entertain his bail plea. The court had previously declined to consider his bail plea because he had not approached the lower courts first. Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, has been in custody since March 21, 2024, following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges related to the excise policy. Although the Supreme Court granted him interim bail for 21 days in May to participate in the Lok Sabha election campaign, and extended it in July due to his prolonged detention, he remained in custody due to the new charges filed by the CBI in June. The Supreme Court will issue its decision today, balancing legal precedence and procedural norms
