The father of the man detained from Durg, Chhattisgarh, as a suspect in the January 16 attack on Saif Ali Khan’s Mumbai flat, has alleged that Mumbai Police ruined his son’s life. Based on information from Mumbai Police, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained 31-year-old driver Akash Kanojia at Durg railway station on January 18. He was taken into custody from the Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminal-Kolkata Shalimar Gyaneshwari Express. However, after Mumbai Police arrested Bangladeshi national Shariful Fakir on January 19, the Durg RPF released Kanojia. He is a resident of Indiranagar Chawl in Titwala, Thane district. The incident has raised concerns about wrongful detentions, with Kanojia’s family demanding accountability from the authorities.
