Breaking: Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes CM Yogi's Stance on Road-Based Eid Prayers, Sparks Political Debate in UP

A political debate has emerged in Uttar Pradesh regarding the practice of offering prayers on roads, particularly concerning Eid namaz. In a recent interview, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the concerns surrounding the government’s position on road-based prayers. Yogi clarified that roads are meant for transportation and should not be used for religious activities. He further explained that religious processions, such as tazia, should be reduced in size to avoid disruptions, particularly near high-tension wires. This regulation is similar to the one applied during the Kavad Yatra, where procession sizes are controlled for safety reasons.Yogi emphasized that Eid prayers should be conducted at designated locations like Eidgahs or mosques instead of public roads. He urged religious festivals and gatherings to maintain discipline and avoid disturbing public order. His comments have sparked political debate, with opposition parties accusing the government of targeting specific communities, while others stress the need for maintaining public order on roads. In response, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi also made a statement on the matter. He questioned why road-based celebrations of Muslim religious festivals, such as Eid prayers, are being criticized when similar practices are observed for all religions. Owaisi pointed out that festivals of different religions are celebrated on roads, and therefore, the same should be allowed for Muslims.
