Arvind Kejriwal Exclusive: Former CM Highlights Concern for Delhi’s Future, Watch Full Interview
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, reflecting on his 177 days in jail, described the experience as mentally challenging, sharing that he was kept in isolation, lost significant weight, and had to approach the court to receive insulin. In an exclusive interview with ABP News, he accused the BJP of targeting him and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), claiming that if AAP does not retain power, free electricity in Delhi will be discontinued. Kejriwal expressed concern over the future of Delhi's schools and public welfare schemes, emphasizing that providing free electricity and education is a part of nation-building. Drawing strength from the Bhagavad Gita during his imprisonment, he said it gave him solace while he endured long periods of solitude. On allegations against him, Kejriwal maintained that all cases were baseless and aimed at tarnishing his image, accusing the BJP of engaging in mudslinging because they cannot compete with AAP’s governance. He criticized the state of law and order in Delhi, holding Home Minister Amit Shah accountable for ensuring public safety and urging immediate action. Addressing accusations of not implementing central schemes, Kejriwal clarified that his government made healthcare free for all, unlike the central scheme, which is limited to ₹5 lakh with several conditions. He also defended AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, stating that the police arrested Balyan instead of acting against gangster Nandu, who was threatening him. Kejriwal highlighted how stalled projects, including delayed salaries in the MCD, were revived under his leadership. He questioned why BJP-ruled states do not provide free electricity, quality schools, or better healthcare facilities, warning that if BJP takes over Delhi, all such benefits would be discontinued.
