Himanshu Roy, former Mumbai top cop, commits SUICIDE
Former Maharashtra ATS Chief and Additional Director General of Police Himanshu Roy, who exposed the IPL spot-fixing scandal, committed suicide on Friday.
An India Police Service officer of the 1988 batch, shot himself at his residence. Reports said he had cancer and was undergoing treatment for it.
In his sprawling career, Roy headed the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and also worked as the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Mumbai. He had been credited with cracking several high profile cases in the city. Roy had set up Mumbai’s first Cyber Crime Cell.
