Amid ongoing encounter with militants, internet service halted in Kulgam

An exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir was reported early on Wednesday morning. Heavy firing broke out between security personnel and holed-up militants in Tazipora, Mohammadpora area of Kulgam district. One terrorist was killed in the gunfight, while it is further believed that two to three militants must be trapped in the area. The encounter is underway and as a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in Kulgam district.
