WWF Utilises Twitter Rebranding To Highlight Importance Of Wildlife Conservation

The swiss-based international NGO has created an impactful graphic that shows the evolution of Twitter's blue bird logos over the years.

In a major shift since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the microblogging site replaced its iconic bird logo with the letter 'X' last week. The rebranding sparked a wave of memes and reactions across the globe. Now the German chapter of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has taken this opportunity to highlight wildlife conservation. The advertisement since being shared on the internet has gone viral.

The swiss-based international NGO has created an impactful graphic that shows the evolution of the blue bird logos over the years. The post tries to pass on the message that some animals are heading for extinction and that they need to be protected .

McCann Germany, an advertising agency that worked for WWF in creating the advertisement, shared the graphic on LinkedIn and wrote,"The whole world mourns the loss of the Twitter bird. Around 1 million real animal species are threatened with extinction. Today we are in the midst of the greatest extinction of species since the end of the dinosaur era. A quarter of mammal species, one in eight bird species, more than 30 percent of sharks and rays, and 40 percent of amphibian species are threatened. Help us save the animals. An initiative of WWF Germany & us!".

While the text on the graphics when traanslated to English reads, "Protect our animal species before it's too late."

The WWF graphic showcases the evolution of the Twitter's blue bird logo from 2006 to a black-and-white X in 2023. While the blue bird logos represent the various species of birds, the X represents the need to take precautionary measures to conserve wildlife before it’s too late.

Since being shared the post has gathered 400 likes, and has been reshared numerous times.

"Congrats team! Simple and great!", commented one user on the post.

"Thank you for this brilliant idea!", wrote another user.
