Woman Who Got Divorced Four Years Ago Celebrates 'Divorce-Versary' On Social Media
Shasvathi said that after going through the divorce she took upon herself to shatter the stigma related to divorces in the country.
People who are divorced in India live with a lot of baggage. Their life post the divorce is not simple as people judge them even when they have no connection with them. Women are among the worst sufferers of the social stigma. But, a woman took a step forward in dealing with the stigma around divorce and is celebrating four years of 'freedom.'
Shasvathi Siva of Bengaluru took to Twitter to share she is celebrating her fourth divorce anniversary. Siva posted a picture of herself sipping coffee in a lawn. “4 years of freedom, and not taking it for granted for a single day. Celebrating a divorce-versary today. Happy happies to me!!!,” she wrote in the caption.

She also gave a little bit of background on linkdin and wrote, "Today, 4 years ago, I got divorced. I celebrate this day every year as my day of freedom and it’s really important to me that I acknowledge it every year. Not a day has gone by without feeling immense gratitude for life every day, these past 1460 days."
Shasvathi also said that after going through the divorce she took upon herself to shatter the stigma related to divorces in the country.

"I spoke about it (divorce) online, got the conversation rolling, and to date, I’ve conducted over 75 support group video and in-person sessions, and currently running a Telegram support group of 500+ participants, actively benefitting from the space," she added.
Shasvathi runs an Instagram support group, #DivorceIsNormal for women who wish to chat about the issues of being recognised as a 'single lady' and not a 'divorcee'.
