New Delhi: Amid a whirlwind of political developments in Pakistan that culminated with Shehbaz Sharif being elected as the country's 23rd Prime Minister, a compilation of old videos showing him involuntarily knocking-off podium microphones has given netizens some light moments on social media.

Known for quoting revolutionary poetry and making impassionate speeches, Shehbaz Sharif, in the videos, can be seen knocking off the microphones with his vigorous hand gestures on different occasions.

"Entertainment will continue in Pakistan. Meet Shahbaz Sharif Next PM of Pakistan and his Highly Entertaining Hand Movements," one user said while tweeting the video. "Shahbaz Sharif has a special relation with those mics," wrote another user.

The videos show a spirited Shehbaz Sharif toppling microphones from the podiums mid-speech while flaying his hands around.

The videos have spurred an avalanche of memes both in India and Pakistan on social media.

 Shehbaz Sharif was elected unopposed as the 23rd premier of the country on Monday. Sharif, brother of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, secured 174 votes -- two more than the simple majority of 172, Geo News reported.

Before the election, PTI members walked out of the National Assembly after their PM candidate, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, announced a boycott of the polling process. Imran Khan also resigned as a member of the National Assembly, saying he would not sit with "thieves".

Shehbaz Sharif was born on September 23, 1951, in Lahore, Pakistan. He is the younger sibling of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif and is known as an effective administrator.
