Missing For 27 Years, Man Flips Kumbh Mela's 'Separation' Narrative After Family Discovers His Aghori Avatar
A family in Prayagraj has been reunited with their son, brother and husband after 27 years. The man had been missing during the Kumbh Mela. His wife, Dhanwa Devi, raised their two sons alone.

Maha Kumbh News: The Kumbh Mela or the religious gathering at Kumbh earned itself a notorious reputation — one that has been used time and again in movies and serials in the pre-mobile phone era. We have seen stories of 'Kumbh mein bichhde hue bhai [Brothers separated at Kumbh]' in movies such as 'Amar Akbar Anthony', Dharmatma, and even the Bobby Deol-starrer 'Soldier'. But now a tale of a couple from Jharkhand has completely flipped the narrative.
A man who went missing 27 years ago was reportedly 'reunited' with his wife at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Yes! That's true. Perhaps for the first time, a family has found persons have been reunited instead of being separated at Maha Kumbh.
However, the 'reunion' came with a cruel twist for the family.
The man's family, who had abandoned all hopes of ever finding her husband, was shocked to find that he had abandoned all worldly pleasures and transformed into an aghori. Being an aghori he has detached himself from his family and all worldly pleasures. Thus, he was found but not exactly "united" with his family.
The man's parents and brother were also at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Dhanwa Devi, his wife, had to raise their two sons, Kamlesh and Vimlesh, on her own after his departure.
How Man Missing Since 1998 Was Traced At Maha Kumbh
In 1998, the life of Dhanwa Devi, a resident of Jharkhand, was plunged into darkness when her husband suddenly went missing. The family left no stone unturned to find him, but there was no trace of him. In these 27 years, the woman had accepted her fate.
However, the 2025 Maha Kumbh was to turn the fates in a different direction. At the Maha Kumbh fair in Prayagraj, where millions of devotees and saints had gathered, a relative of the woman saw an Aghori who looked somewhat like her husband.
Left Behind Two Children
At first, they thought they made a mistake. But on a closer look, they were convinced that it was none other than the missing man, Gangasagar Yadav, who had now become an Aghori. Gangasagar Yadav is now known as 'Rajkumar Baba'. However, this is just a claim by the family, from which the family is refusing to back down.
As soon as the news spread, netizens started putting out their reactions. One X user wrote: "I had heard that people get separated at the Kumbh Mela. Today, the Kumbh Mela has reunited two separated people." Another X user wrote: "Hail Aghori Baba, who left his family for religion." Yet another X user opined that he should have announced his departure than leave his family without a clue.
