An Indian traveller’s candid rant about Europe’s blistering summer heat has set social media abuzz, igniting a debate among fellow globetrotters about whether the continent is truly worth visiting during the peak season.
In a video shared on Instagram, Bulbul Pandey urges tourists to rethink their European holiday plans. The clip, bluntly titled “Mat aao Europe” (Don’t come to Europe), details the hardships he faced while touring through sun-scorched European cities.
“It’s way too hot here,” Bulbul laments in Hindi. “Those planning to visit Europe during summer vacations, please don’t.”
His frustration, however, extends far beyond the soaring temperatures. He highlighted how many European hotels and apartments lack air conditioning — or even ceiling fans — despite charging hefty prices. Comparing the accommodations to tiny boxes, he said, “The rooms are so small, like boxes and still very expensive.”

But it wasn’t just stifling rooms that left Bulbul disillusioned. He spoke of certain streets reeking of foul odours, painting a stark picture that contrasts sharply with the romanticised image of Europe.
And then there’s the cost of staying hydrated. Bulbul warned that even a small bottle of water could set travellers back between €2 and €2.50—roughly ₹200 to ₹250 in Indian currency.
“I regret my decision to come here during this time. Imagine carrying your belongings without AC or a fan in this burning hot weather,” he confesses. Instead, he advised fellow tourists to plan European trips in September or October, when the climate is milder.
Bulbul signed off with a brutally honest suggestion: it’s far wiser to “stay in India and enjoy the monsoon season” than to battle Europe’s searing heat without the basic comforts of home.
His unfiltered take has resonated widely, drawing a flood of reactions online. Many viewers sympathised with his complaints, calling his observations spot on.
“He is absolutely right. The majority of cafés and restaurants didn’t even have fans, let alone AC. Not a good idea to visit during summer. Even the cheapest hotel in India has a fan or a cooler,” one user commented, sharing their own experiences in Italy and Switzerland.
However, the video didn't go unchallenged. Some travellers defended Europe’s summer allure.
“I don’t know which part of Europe you went to. No doubt it’s warm, but there are ACs on the trains, trams, buses and in hotels. It’s beautiful. Don’t spread rumours. I was there last week, and it was amazing,” one user countered.
Large parts of Europe reeled under a heatwave that ended last week, killing around 2,300 people, according to a rapid scientific analysis published on Wednesday, reported Reuters.
