'Excited As Eloping Teenagers': Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Marries 'Long-Time Love' On 93rd Birthday

Aldrin, who, along with Neil Armstrong, were the first humans to set foot on the moon's surface, announced the wedding on Friday, his 93rd birthday.

Buzz Aldrin, who was one of the first two people to set foot on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, recently married his long-time partner on his 93rd birthday. The former astronaut and Korean War fighter pilot announced his marriage to Dr Anca Faur, 63, executive vice president of Aldrin's company, Buzz Aldrin Ventures, on social media and published images from their ceremony.

"On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honoured by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot," Aldrin posted on Twitter. "We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers."

Aldrin is seen posing with his partner Faur, who is wearing a long-sleeved dress with elaborate lace and holding a bouquet of white and pink flowers, while wearing a black bow tie and a tuxedo embellished with badges.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Faur has been the executive vice president of Buzz Aldrin Ventures since 2019.

Before marrying Faur, he was married and divorced three times. With Joan Ann, he has three children: James, Janice, and Andrew, as well as one grandson, three great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

Aldrin, who was born on January 20, 1930, catapulted to international prominence when he and Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin took their historic walk on the lunar surface, fulfilling the late President John F. Kennedy's promise to send a manned crew to the moon and return them safely to Earth. Michael Collins was the crew's third member.
