Telangana Polls: Joint Action Committee Of Muslim Organisations Extends Support To Congress

The JAC aims to leverage this support as a means to exert pressure on Congress to implement the demands outlined in the Muslim Declaration of JAC if they come to power.

The Telangana Muslim organizations' Joint Action Committee (JAC) has announced its endorsement of the Congress party for the 2023 Telangana Assembly Elections. Encouraging Muslims statewide to vote for Congress, the JAC aims to leverage this support as a means to exert pressure on the party to implement the demands outlined in the Muslim Declaration of JAC, particularly if the party secures a government position.

According to ANI, Joint Action Committee of Telangana Muslim Organizations has announced support to Congress in the Telangana Assembly elections.

In a statement, JAC said, "We request all the Muslims of the state to come together on one word and vote for the Congress party together and show the power of their vote. We hold the belief that this decision will serve as a valuable tool in exerting pressure on the Congress party to implement the demands of the Muslim Declaration if the Congress government is formed after the elections."

"We hereby express our endorsement, contingent upon the Congress government honouring the commitments outlined in the Minority Declaration within a span of six months subsequent to its establishment," it said.

Furthermore, they emphasised that the Muslim JAC's stance regarding the parliamentary elections scheduled for May will be contingent on the Congress government fulfilling its commitments to the Muslim community and demonstrating its integrity.

The JAC has been in operation for the past two years and it has formulated a plan of action known as the Telangana Muslim Declaration. The Muslim Declaration released on July 9, 2023 outlined a set of 22 major demands aimed at fostering the advancement and progress of the Muslim community.
