Telangana Govt Launches Cyber Security And Anti-Narcotics Bureaus To Tackle Crime

Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali , Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud and senior police officials inaugurated the two bureaus in Telangana State Police Integrated Command Control Centre (TSPICCC).

The Telangana state government took a major step in combating cybercrimes and narcotics influence by launching the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB) and the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSANB) on Wednesday. The inauguration ceremony, held at the Telangana State Police Integrated Command Control Centre (TSPICCC), was attended by Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Excise Minister V Srinivas Goud, and senior police officials.

The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) is set to commence operations on the 12th and 13th floors, while the Cyber Security Bureau will occupy the second and third floors of the B-Tower of TSPICCC. This strategic allocation of space demonstrates the state government's focus on addressing these crucial areas of concern.

CV Anand, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, has assumed the role of Director of the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau. Anand provided insights into the bureau's organizational structure, revealing that the government has sanctioned 300 positions for TSNAB. The bureau comprises the head office, four narcotics police stations, and seven regional narcotics control cells. Additionally, it encompasses 26 Narcotics Enforcement Wings operating in various commissionerates and districts.

The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau, driven by its motto "Courage, Commitment, and Combat," aims to create a drug-free state. Anand emphasized the bureau's highly skilled officers who engage in vigilant surveillance, multi-jurisdictional investigations, and prosecution. They also collaborate with local, state, and national agencies to dismantle drug cartels and combat illicit trafficking.

During the ceremony, ministers were briefed on the progress of the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing, which has achieved notable success in apprehending local peddlers, inter-state gangs, and international drug peddlers. The wing has also taken proactive measures against drug peddling activities on the dark web.

DGP Anjani Kumar highlighted the implementation of strict measures to effectively combat drug-related crimes. He mentioned awareness campaigns, the strengthening of drug rehabilitation services, control over precursor chemicals, and the launch of anti-drug committees in colleges as successful initiatives that have yielded positive results.
