BRS MLC Kavitha Supports Protesting Wrestlers, Demands Centre To 'Act Now'
Kavitha said that women wrestlers have brought pride to the country with victories across the globe.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has extended her support to protesting women wrestlers and demanded the Centre to "act now" against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh who has been accused of sexual harassment. Kavitha, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, emphasised the remarkable achievements of women wrestlers across the globe and expressed disappointment at the complete 'silence from the central government' regarding this matter. She called for immediate action from the government, saying that it should be in the national interest to uphold the dignity of our athletes.
In a tweet, Kavitha said, "It is the hard work, dedication, and patriotism of our women wrestlers that showed this talent of India to the world. The Government of India must think in the interest of the country in these 5 days."
"Even after a serious charge like POCSO, the accused is out in public, justice is no way can be denied to the victim, and the ongoing brutality with these gold medal awarded women players is absolutely reprehensible. The Government must know that the entire country wants an answer and the world is watching. ACT NOW," she added.

Top wrestlers, such as Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat, initially intended to immerse their medals in the Ganga and had reached Haridwar on Tuesday evening. However, following the intervention of farmer leader Naresh Tikait and appeals from locals, they decided to suspend their plans. Instead, they issued a five-day ultimatum demanding action against the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
