Telangana Congress Leaders Meet Governor Tamilisai To Hand Over Memorandum On Several Issues

Congress leaders said if the allegations made by the responsible union minister are correct, they are severe charges of corruption worth thousands of crores.

Hyderabad: A group of Congress leaders led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief A Revanth Reddy met with the governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to hand over a memorandum on several issues in the state.

Congress leaders have complained to the governor about the hike in electricity charges and the cancellation of Government Order (GO) 111, which was issued in 1996 to protect Himayath Sagar and Osman Sagar, the two reservoirs built across the Musi and Esa rivers.

Congress leaders Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Balaram Nayak, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Jaggareddy, Shabbir Ali, Madhu Yaskhi, Ponnam Prabhakar, Dasoju Shravan and Anjan Kumar Yadav, were also present.

According to IANS, Congress party leaders have asked Governor Tamilisai to request a CBI investigation following a statement by central minister G Kishan Reddy that the Telangana government failed to hand over paddy/rice worth more than 8 lakh tonnes to FCI during the previous two Kharif seasons.

Kishan Reddy raised doubts about where that rice was lying and wondered if it was siphoned off in the black market.

Congress leaders said if the allegations made by the responsible union minister are correct, they are severe charges of corruption worth thousands of crores.

"As a result, we demand a CBI investigation and the punishment of the perpetrators, regardless of their positions in the state administration," said the opposition party.
