Telangana: BJP And TRS Play Politics Over Paddy Procurement, Says TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy
Revanth said the farmers may face losses to the tune of Rs 3,000 crore
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy has slammed both the Central and state governments for their failure to procure 100 per cent paddy from farmers from the state. Instead of procuring paddy, he said both BJP and TRS were playing politics.
Revanth Reddy on Monday wrote a letter to KCR with ten questions. He wanted to know whether CM KCR wrote a letter to the Centre on October 4, 2021, stating that Telangana would not supply parboiled rice. He also questioned if Union Minister Piyush Goel impeded the paddy purchase process by invoking the CM's letter.

Revanth said Farmers have doubts about CM KCR's integrity regarding grain purchases. He asked the Chief Minister whether it was not he who said in February 2021 that the State government had lost Rs 7,500 crore due to paddy procurement and suspended the entire paddy procurement process.
He told the CM that farmers were obliged to sell their produce for Rs 1,400 per quintal to private millers, resulting in a loss of Rs 500 per quintal, with a total loss of Rs 3,000 crore for the farmers in the state.

Revanth said Telangana is also a partner in the de-centralized procurement system. This means that under this scheme, it is the responsibility of the state government to set up purchasing centres and procure grain and supply it to the FCI.
In the name of the very few hours of protests in Delhi without fulfilling your obligation, how can you find a solution to the farmer's grain purchase unless it gives you a political advantage to make dramas? Revanth questioned CM KCR.
