Former Telangana CM KCR's Nephew Arrested In 'Land Grab' Case
Kalvakuntla Tejeshwar Rao was apprehended by the Adibatla police under the Rachakonda commissioner zone, along with seven others, based on a complaint filed against them.
Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's nephew, Kalvakuntla Tejeshwar Rao (a) Kanna Rao, was arrested for allegedly trespassing into private land and attacking the staffer, according to a report on ANI, quoting the police officials.
Rao was apprehended by the Adibatla police under the Rachakonda commissioner zone, along with seven others, based on a complaint filed against them.
The FIR stated that OSR Projects, the complainant company, acquired a parcel of land measuring 10,890 square yards from Chava Suresh through Sale Deed document No 991/2020, dated January 31, 2020. Subsequently, OSR Projects sold the land to its affiliate entity, SSAN Enterprises, via Registered Sale Deed document No 11347/2023, dated September 16, 2023.
However, despite relinquishing their rights over the land in 2013, Jakkidi Surender Reddy and his associates began interfering with and disrupting the peaceful possession of the land, as per the report.
Initially, Rao sought anticipatory bail from the High Court, but his plea was rejected. Subsequently, he filed another petition with the court to quash the FIR against him, which was also dismissed.
Rao was later arrested in Balapur and presented before the court, where he was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Additionally, the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend 14 others allegedly involved in the case.
Kanna Rao and his associates face charges of attempted murder, criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy, and rioting following an incident where they allegedly entered a disputed land parcel and assaulted the staff of OSR Projects, a private firm.
Both OSR Projects and the accused individuals assert ownership of the land and have previously brought their claims before the court. The case remains unresolved as it is still pending in court.
Earlier, Kanna Rao told the media that false accusations were leveled against him and he had an agreement to develop the land.
