Driver Killed As Ambulance Catches Fire After Crashing Into Median In Hyderabad

The police suspect that the ambulance caught fire due to an oxygen cylinder explosion.

The driver of an ambulance was killed when it caught fire after an accident in Hyderabad on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the BN Reddy Nagar crossroads in Hyderabad early in the morning, as reported by IANS. The ambulance belonged to a private hospital in the city and overturned after hitting a divider. The police suspect that the ambulance caught fire due to an oxygen cylinder explosion.

Driver, Mallesh (35), sustained critical injuries and fell unconscious. Tragically, Mallesh was charred to death.

A fire tender rushed to the spot and successfully doused the flames, but the ambulance was completely gutted.

The incident occurred when Mallesh was returning to the hospital located at Malakpet after shifting the accident victim from the accident spot to Ibrahimpatnam, near Hyderabad. Fortunately, there were no vehicles near the ambulance at the time of the accident, averting further casualties.

The ambulance driver succumbed to the injuries at the spot after he was pulled out of the vehicle. No one suffered injuries in the oxygen cylinder explosion, " Vanasthalipuram police said.

A case was registered under sections 304-A of the IPC and sections 183 and 184 of the MV Act.

In a separate incident earlier, two people were reportedly charred to death when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck in Telangana's Nizamabad district. The incident occurred near Velpur Crossroads. The car caught fire after the collision, and both occupants were burned alive.

In another incident on June 30, two people were charred to death when a container truck caught fire after ramming into another truck in Telangana’s Medak district. The incident took place on National Highway 44 at Kaslapur village in Narsingi Mandal. A container truck, en route from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, collided with another truck that was parked on the road due to a tire puncture, as reported by IANS. The impact of the collision caused a fire in the container truck, resulting in the deaths of the driver and cleaner.
