Twitter Users Complain Of Losing Followers, Netizens Share Hilarious Memes

New Delhi: Several users of the micro-blogging site Twitter has complained of a drop in the number of followers late on Thursday.

Although Twitter hasn’t released any official statement on the matter, social media platforms often run these cleaning exercises to get rid of bots that create problem in these forums. 

This is not the first time that Twitter users have reported a drop in their follower count. Earlier, in June, Twitter had run a similar operation when famous personalities on the site, including actor Anupam Kher, tweeted about losing 80,000 followers within a few days.

At that time, Twitter Support had written, "You may notice some follower count fluctuations from time to time. Accounts that we've asked to confirm their password or phone number aren't included in follower counts until they've confirmed that info. We do this regularly to help prevent spam and keep all accounts secure."      

Meanwhile, the sudden fall in the follower number has triggered a series of memes, with netizens posting their funny takes on the matter.
